Smoke Detector Program

The Old Fort Fire Department provides to the public, free of charge, the installation of smoke alarms in a residence that is not equipped properly with them.

Throughout the years, our department has partnered with the South Carolina Department of Health and Enviornmental Control to have this service, as it is funded through a state initiative. While SCDHEC ultimately governs the program, we provide the smoke alarms and full installation of them. The program is primarily targeted at children/youth in a residence, along with any elderly or handicapped persons as well, however there is no limitation on who can recieve them.

Suggested Areas for Smoke Alarms:

-Hallways

-Bedrooms

-Living Areas

-Paths of Egress

-Stairways

If you're in question on if you may not have enough smoke alarms, our department can provide a courtesy home inspection to make sure you are properly protected!
